You’re not “hiding anything” by not dressing like the real you on the weekend, you’re participating in a professional practice of keeping things rather neutral in order to let the focus be on the work. Think of a blurred background as similar to putting on a neutral professional outfit for the interview. All of these are distractions on zoom and could lead to people making assumptions about you that are unnecessary. Some people work in a closet to stay away from their kids, or in a studio apartment where their background is literally their bed and kitchen. No, sooo many people use this because they don’t have a professional office background in their home.
